Calling all brides - part 2.

This is a bright and colourful look. I noticed that brides are wearing funner colours such as purples and hot pinks on their special day. I used 3 main lid colours - gold, red and purple. The look was difficult to do and the result is not perfect as you can see from the pictures. Also, got inspired at the last minute to do a double winged liner just to give the look an edge.

I used:

  • Benefit Boing concealer (as base)
  • No name brown e/s (in crease)
  • 24K gold & Deep plum gel eyeliners (on eyelid as base)
  • Gold e/s from Maybelline "Give me gold" quad (on top of  gold gel liner)
  • Shimmery colour from same quad (for highlight)
  • Nyx e/s in Red Head (In center of lid)
  • Dark plum/purple colour from NYX "Jazz nights" palette (to blend the outer corner)
  • Loreal Lineur intense eyeliner
  • Maybelline great lash mascara

Here are the pics! Let me know what you think.

Calling all brides - part 1.

The next few looks are going to be bridal looks for all you brides-to-be!

The idea to do a bridal look was on my mind for a while and I was thinking of doing the traditional reds/golds/maroony look. But then Uzma suggested doing a green & gold look and I thought well, why not do a bunch of them. After all, today's brides have ventured into the realm of colourful outfits other than the traditional red/maroon/gold ones!

So this is going to be the first of this "series" if you will. This first one is green and gold for Uzma. It is super shiny look which I had difficulty doing because I felt the colours were too garish but I had to keep reminding myself that I wasn't doing it for ME, I was doing it for a bride!

Here's what I used:

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • Nyx Jumbo eye pencil in Milk (on one eye) and Black Bean (on the other eye) as a base
  • Yellow-gold colour from Maybelline's  "Give me gold" quad thingy
  • This really OLD coppery-gold pigment from a brand that does not exist anymore
  • MAC e/s in Humid
  • Nyx e/s in Lime Juice
  • Lorean Lineur intense eyeliner
  • Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
Achieving the look:
  •  I don't have a good Gold colour - the one from the Maybelline quad is too glittery so I use it on the inner corners of the eyes to brighten up the area.
  • Use a coppery-gold on the main eyelid
  • Put a green colour in the outer V and blend into crease
  • Blend the green above the crease using a lighter green colour. Add suitable highlight.
  • Add eyeliner/mascara etc.
Now for some pictures! (I have used a black base on one eye and white on the other. This was an experiment to tell if the different bases make a difference to the outcome of the look. Can you tell the difference?)

W/dim lighting

The top 3 pics are with a white base and the last 2 are with black. I really didn't see the difference. The colours turned out just as vibrant!

Hope you like, do tell me what you think and let me know if you want any particular colours!

Thanks

Calling for some inspiration!

Holo!!

I have been out of town and been job hunting for a while now so my blog took a backseat for a week. Otherwise I try to post at least 2 looks per week! And I was doing so good that I don't want to fall of the wagon.

But with all this other stuff going on - I'm kinda uninspired right now. So please give me some suggestions/ideas/colours/combinations/techniques for new looks to do! I have a list of things that I had originally planned and I think I will get to it but my own list looks so boring to me!!

So to all my 11 subscribers - thank you for following - and please give me some ideas!

Silver/Black/Red drama!

I have been devoid of inspiration lately and these colours popped into my head and swam around till I envisioned this look in my mind's eye. And now I created it on my real eye.

I used the tape-method to get the sharp outer edge. I cut the crease using black but I ended up blending it so much that it's not a cut crease anymore. I don't know if I wanted a cut crease to begin with but I like how it turned out. I also like the shape a lot - never really done anything like this.  I like how it makes my eyes look really BIG!

Products used:

  • NYX Jumbo eye pencil in Pots & Pans and Black Bean
  • Ben Nye pigment in Silver
  • MAC e/s in Black tied
  • NYX e/s in Red head
  • Loreal Lineur intense eyeliner
  • Covergirl Lashblash mascara
  • Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero.
Pictures! (Warning - some really close closeups of my eye!)

Overall, I'm happy with it and the best part was that it didn't even take that long. Maybe 10-15 minutes (for one eye.) Tell me what you think! And pour in some suggestions for  more looks/colours to inspire me in the future! THANKS!

Hot pink & navy!

This is my hot pink and navy look. The hot pink is not so 'hot' in the pictures. The camera for some reason is not picking up the colour the way I want it too. So I used a hot pink on the lid, some navy blue in the outer corner and a walnut colour to blend. This was a fun look, hope you like!

Products used:

  • MAC Painterly paint pot
  • MAC e/s in Star Violet
  • Dark blue e/s from NYX 'I dream of Antigua' palette
  • NYX e/s in Walnut
  • Body Shop eye definer shade in Brilliant Blue
  • Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero
  • Maybelline Great Lash mascara
So not too happy with the pictures but here goes:

Let me know what you think!

I smoke purple!

So, I did this awesome purple smoky eye for a party over the weekend. And I was so happy that I wanted to recreate it BUT you know what happens right? Do it the second time and it never comes out as amazing as the first time! In retrospect, I did not used a primer or a sticky base so my colours are not that vivid.

However, I tried my best to capture this purple smokiness. I could not really get a decent picture so only 2 to see. I don't know how I feel about it. What do you think?

Products used:

  • Plum gel liner from makeupgeek.
  • Purple e/s from NYX Jazz Nights Palette.
  • Ben Nye pigment in Amethyst
  • MAC e/s in Mating Call
  • NYX Jumbo eye pencil in Black Bean
  • Maybelline Great Lash Mascara
Pictures are here:

PS: I  love how well purple goes with dark eyes!

Normal eyes, with bad eyebrows :/

What do you think?

Thanks!

Turquoise & Silver

This is my silver and turquoise look! I wanted to use my new NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 'Pots & Pans' - the colour is a very nice silver BUT does not stay on your lid! My attempts to blend with my finger ended up with the colour transferring to my finger. Moral of the story: use a very sticky base before this!

Products used:

  • NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Pots & Pans
  • NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean
  • Ben Nye pigments in: silver, turquoise and peacock
  • MAC e/s in Black Tied
  • Loreal Lineur Intense Eyeliner
  • Maybelline Great Lash mascara

Pictures!

Anyways, here are the pics! Hope you like and tell me what you think!

Thanks!

I made my own lip colour!

I own a lot of makeup but only ONE solitary lipstick! Don't laugh, but I am a gloss kind of girl and have not owned a lipstick in years. My only one was acquired last november and it is Rimmel's "Spotlight Beige."

Now this colour swatched beautifully, but on my lips, it looks very pale pink! That doesn't look to good so I have mixed and matched and come up with my own combo colour!

I used:

  • Covergirl Smoothers lipliner in 'Spices' to line my lips. Then I mash my lips together to blend the colour. You can use a finger or a brush to blend.
  • Apply Rimmel's 'Spotlight Beige' lipstick onto your lips to get a pretty pinky-brown colour.
  • Top off with Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush lipgloss in 'Hot Coconut' on top. The gloss pulls all the colours together as it has beautiful gold and rust shimmer in it. Plus it's coconut smelling....mmmm...yummy!
So look at my lippie colour!

The products I used.

The swatches!

Ta-Daaaaaaaaaaaa!

Hope you like! I encourage everyone to mix and match if you don't already do so! It's so much fun!

Black smokey eye with a twist

So this is my black smokey eye, inspired by Jessica Harlow on YouTube BUT my interpretation of it.

Basically, I liked how she kept the smokey eye very close to the crease and I did the same. I also used a similar technique as she did in the video but I did change the shape and the inner lid colour. I also used a piece of cello tape to give me sharp outer V!

I used:

  • Benefit Boing Concealer
  • Urban Decay 24/7 one in Zero
  • Black e/s from NYX Jazz Nights palette
  • Unbranded orange-gold colour from a no name palette
  • Maybelline great lash mascara
So the eye shadow is supposed to look like a little wing at the outer corner of the eye. I added some of the gold colour on the lower lashline to brighten the look!

Pictures!

The look, with eyebrow raised.

This is what it looks like on my normal eye.
